Dan Taylor has been promoted to operations manager at John N Dunn Group’s Yorkshire division, as the business continues to grow and invest in developing its people through well-established internal career pathways.
Marking 15 years with the company this year, Dan steps into the role having previously worked as a senior contracts manager at the Leeds office. His promotion highlights the long-term career opportunities available at John N Dunn Group, where nurturing and retaining skilled individuals is identified as a key part of the company’s success.
Dan, originally from Lincolnshire but now living in Barkston Ash, North Yorkshire, said: “I first came across John N Dunn Group after spotting a van on a call-out and decided to get in touch. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.
“I started on site as a plumber, then progressed through trainee supervisor, supervisor, contracts manager and senior contracts manager roles before becoming operations manager. The great thing about the company is that if you work hard, the opportunity for progression is there.”
Headquartered in Newcastle, John N Dunn Group employs over 300 people and has further offices in Leeds and Edinburgh. It is one of the UK’s leading building services contractors, working across residential new build and retrofit projects. The Yorkshire division employs 76 people and has been a driving force behind the Group’s shift to low-carbon technologies, including air source heat pumps.
James Harris, managing director of the Yorkshire division, said: “Dan has proven himself to be a natural leader and an excellent manager of people and projects. His promotion is well deserved and reflects the confidence we have in the talent within our teams. Promoting from within is something we have always believed in and Dan’s journey is a great example of that.
“It is important that we create opportunities at every level. From apprenticeships to operations management, our focus is on giving people the chance to grow with the business. We are proud of our track record in developing talent and Dan’s promotion, alongside the arrival of our latest apprentices, shows that commitment in action.”
This year, the Yorkshire division is also celebrating long service milestones for several members of the team. Andrew Prior, quantity surveyor, Amy Crampton, customer care co-ordinator, Neil Cook, contracts manager and Julie Hepworth, senior customer care co-ordinator, are all marking 10 years with the business.
Alongside opportunities for progression into senior roles, the business continues to invest in the next generation. Last year, John N Dunn Group celebrated the recruitment of its 500th apprentice and two more have recently joined the Yorkshire team.
Riley Yoxall is completing the first year of his plumbing apprenticeship, while Ciaran Husband has just begun his training. Both are gaining experience on-site while working towards industry-recognised qualifications and contributing to live projects.
The Yorkshire division recently completed over 150 air source heat pump installations across five residential sites following a major training programme that saw a third of its workforce gain BTEC qualifications in heat pump installation. These efforts contribute to John N Dunn Group’s national low-carbon strategy and its ability to deliver sustainable solutions at scale.
