Breaking The Mould In Traditional Recruitment...

Issue 90

When setting up Talentheads three years ago, Sam Spoors wanted to change the face of recruitment, disrupt the status quo and ensure that businesses were getting the best talent and securing them for the long term.

Her plan was bold, brave and unique – a recruiter that positioned itself within the companies that it worked with as the in-house specialist. No wide talent pools and no unsuitable candidates, she wanted to match the right people with the firms she worked with.

A lot has happened in those 36 months since Talentheads was born in Sam’s kitchen. The firm has seen phenomenal growth that has surpassed all expectations, working in a variety of sectors with national and international clients.

Sam said: “Our talent team works with numerous clients in various sectors including space, manufacturing, retail, accountancy, renewables, SaaS, hospitality, leisure, property and engineering. While a high percentage of our retained clients are based in the UK, we work with several international companies, including businesses in Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, Singapore, Australia and the US.

“We’re focused on partnering with organisations that have matching values and mindsets and are looking to grow through long-term recruitment strategies and processes.”

At the beginning of 2023, Talentheads won a major contract with Vitabiotics, which is headed by former Dragon’s Den star Tej Lalvani, and they have been actively recruiting for a large number of roles for the recently developed Ad Gefrin Visitor Experience and Distillery based in Wooler.

It doesn’t stop there. In the past 12 months, Talentheads have taken on six new members of staff, including two talent engagement advisors and a development partner. The focus of the latter is to deliver recruitment training to internal professionals to ensure an expert job seeking experience for local communities.

Sam added: “We’re showing people that there is another solution – that they don’t need to opt for a recruitment agency and gain very little around their employer brand, reputation, skills to recruit and end goal to have a talent bank for the future.

“We’re not about the money, we don’t charge placement fees, and we’re not about a quick transactional turnaround and getting out. We’re about values, strategy, vision, individuals and a thoughtful and fulfilling recruitment journey for both businesses and potential employees.”
