You may have heard of Sound Baths, which are becoming increasingly popular. And no, despite the name, they don’t take place in a bath and no rubber ducks required.
What these fascinating sessions do tap into is something we’ve known since before we were born. Sound has been with us from our very first moments. In the womb, we’re held by the steady rhythm of a heartbeat – a soft, grounding drum that tells us we’re safe. Throughout life, sound keeps offering these small pockets of peace: rain tapping on a tent, waves rolling onto the shore, trees swaying in the wind, or the warmth of a children’s choir at Christmas. Amongst the chaos of life, these special moments pull us back into presence without us even trying.
In 2023, I experienced that power in a completely new way at my first sound bath. Tommy from The Sonic Den guided us with bowls, voice, flute and instruments I’d never even seen before. As the vibrations filled the room, everything I usually cling to, my body, my identity, my worries — seemed to dissolve. What was left was a sense of being pure energy, completely entangled with the frequencies around me. I drifted into my subconscious, saw visuals, received messages, and released tears I didn’t know I’d been holding. I walked out changed.
There’s science behind this. Sound can shift the brain from busy Beta waves into the calmer Alpha state, and sometimes into Theta, the space of deep meditation and intuition. The body responds too. Low frequencies stimulate the vagus nerve, helping us move out of stress and into rest and repair. I felt this clearly: my jaw unclenched, my shoulders dropped, and my whole system softened.
Spiritually, sound opened something in me. Letting go of identity for even a moment created space for intuition, synchronicity and a deeper connection with nature and others. That first session set me on a path that has since become my purpose.
Through training, practice and community, I’ve seen how sound helps people release, heal and reconnect with themselves. In these times full of noise and overwhelm, meditative sound offers something essential — a way back to inner peace.
And my mission now is simple: to share that peace with as many people as I can.
If you’d like to find out for yourself, I can bring sound healing to you on a 121 basis or in group session which I offer.
