Adapting the hit TV Drama Peaky Blinders to the stage and turning it into a dance production was always going to be challenging, but Rambert pulled it off last night at a packed Sunderland Empire.
Over 2 stirring hours a stellar ensemble cast brought the iconic show to life and the audience to their feet.
The evening commenced with the Shelby brothers return from fighting in the First World War and dovetails into a love story between Tommy Shelby and Grace.
Set against a clever, imaginative backdrop the pace is rapid throughout with amazing dancing combined with beautifully choreographed fight scenes and unbridled aggression.
Throughout the cast are ably supported by a fantastic live band and narration from the poet Benjamin Zephaniah who played a preacher in TV series.
