Sarah and Sarah of SASS media Ltd highlight work with Tata Steel business support subsidiary in the region

SASS media is pleased to be working with a new client to highlight its impactful work empowering businesses and supporting communities across the region.

UKSE, the business support subsidiary of Tata Steel, has more than 50 years’ experience providing businesses within traditional steel areas across the UK with investment and finance, as well as state of the art workspaces, such as Kirkleatham Innovation Centre in Redcar and Hartlepool Innovation Centre, at Queens Meadow Business Park.

As well as providing financial support and workspaces to enable businesses to grow, UKSE also helps local grassroots community organisations and charities with practical and financial assistance.

This could involve helping people get back into work, developing young people’s skills or fighting drug and alcohol problems.

Staff often visit local schools and universities and work in partnership with local development and enterprise agencies.

When it comes to its equity finance offering, UKSE supports businesses for the long term.

The organisation is less concerned about when it can expect to see returns than it is with its desire to help businesses within the communities it serves to flourish.

UKSE understands that the best results are achieved when investment is paired with a supportive, knowledgeable partner, who can bring their network of contacts in to help too.

Sarah Thorpe, UKSE’s regional manager for the North said: “When we provide equity investment, we don’t simply provide a pot of money and hope that the business can use it to create a return on our investment.

“We proactively support the business we are investing in to achieve their goals every step of the way, from initial investment to achieving their ambitions.”

UKSE understands the wide range of businesses we have across the region, from sole traders and SMEs through to large multinational businesses, all require a different approach to both finance and support.

“There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to funding,” says Sarah.

“For those business owners or managers who are not entirely sure whether a loan or equity investment is right for them, we take an independent approach to exploring in detail the funding that best fits their unique circumstances and business model.”

UKSE also provides a wide range of businesses with access to state-of-the-art workspaces.

Pivotal Sec Plus, a growing cash and ATM firm, recently tripled its existing office space at UKSE’s Hartlepool Innovation Centre, a location which is vital to the firm’s growth plans.

The extra space has allowed Pivotal Sec Plus to expand its ‘rapidly growing’ customer service and sales team.

Julianne Crawford, the company’s head of customer service said: “Our new, larger office in UKSE’s Innovation Centre provides the perfect base for us.

“It is close to main roads connecting the whole of the North East and beyond and it also provides us with high-quality offices and facilities.”
