This day could not come quick enough for so many people, although anxiety crept in around the edges, the excitement about England opening again was intoxicating. And it did not disappoint!
As shops opened doors and hairdressers snipped away, hospitality was a buzz of activity. Businesses around the country had planned, with precision, to ensure safety alongside doing good business, the business they loved.
For over a year now, the people behind the businesses that had to lockdown, have fought a battle to sustain their business and with that, their lives. Some unfortunately succumbed to the battle, others are still very much amidst the war, but April 12th brought hope. That hope shone bright. City Centres, High Streets, shopping centres and local communities were filled with people showing their support for their local businesses and much-loved national brands, kick starting the economy once again. Even if you did not venture out, you felt the impact, social media and mainstream media were awash with positivity, celebrating the world reopening.
There was a sparkle in the air. I, owner of a wedding consultancy and new community interest company Kind Currency, breathed a sigh of relief. It will be a little while before I can truly return to bringing whole families together to celebrate love, but I am delighted to be out supporting my local community, sustaining business, and supporting people. It has absolutely fuelled the Kind Currency flame.
During this month I will be delivering the concept to North East businesses whilst building the community. I will not lie; I am a nervous wreck! But April 12th has brought me so much hope, I cannot wait to start sharing the opportunity and start to make a difference. Kind Currency has been created to disrupt consumerism and the way we do business. I am on a mission to create an economy of kindness, protecting, sustaining, and developing, kind people, kind businesses and kind causes. It is a subscription-based community, supporting consumers to make kinder lifestyle choices and supporting businesses with value and purpose to increase trade and profit. The interaction of the community creates a Kindness Fund, which will remove disadvantaged barriers and provide opportunities to the kind people and causes, that society depends on.
Kind Currency will improve local communities, the local economy, local business, people, society, and the planet. The time for action to protect business and ultimately, protect people, our fellow man is now!
