The Willows is an exclusively designed wedding venue situated adjacent to the multi awardwinning Woodmans Arms on the outskirts of Whickham near Newcastle. The Willows opened in June of this year and is part of a family run business which also owns the Woodmans Arms next door, the Jolly Fisherman in Craster and the popular Rosie’s Bar in the centre of Newcastle. “We bought the Woodmans Arms in October last year and have worked extensively to build and expand on what has always been a popular restaurant and bar,” said owner David Whitehead. “The partially built wedding venue was one of the main reasons I was interested in buying the property – we wanted to create a really elegant venue with a twist of rustic charm and luxurious touches. Our first wedding was on June 4th, and we’ve been inundated with enquiries since launching.” Don’t be fooled by the size of the exterior entrance area. It has the appearance of a rural farm building, but behind the doors is a lavish series of rooms which can be adapted to cater for your perfect day. There is an entrance lounge which is ideal for guests to mingle before and after the service, then guests are directed through a magical corridor towards the light and airy hall where the wedding ceremony will take place. The happy couple and their guests will then head into the spectacular dining hall which comfortably seats up to 100 people where they will dine and party under sparkling chandeliers, draped foliage and festoon lighting. Picture windows provide an ideal background with views over the Tyne Valley and to the Newcastle skyline. The attention to detail in the Woodmans Arms itself is obvious before you even walk through the front door. And the same sort of exacting standards will be found in every aspect of your wedding day. The events team, headed by Fiona Amann, will take care of all the major details while leaving room for more personal touches to be added by the couple themselves. “It doesn’t matter what size the wedding party will be, we guarantee there will never be two weddings on the same day at The Willows,” says Fiona. “We want it to look and feel exclusive… which it is. The team will organise all of the catering and help the very special day flow seamlessly.
