South Tyneside’s Most ‘inspirational’ Company

Issue 91

Boldon-based, HLA Services, has scooped gold at the Best of South Tyneside Business Awards.

The company was crowned Business of the Year 2023 at the ceremony held at South Shields Football Club’s 1st Cloud Arena.

The awards celebrate the ‘inspirational difference’ businesses and individuals have made to their hometown.

In its 20th anniversary year, HLA Services, the leading North East full-mechanical, air conditioning, climate change and temperature control specialist, is enjoying a period of sustained growth.

Recent contracts include multiple projects across the North East education sector, working with Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and Northumbria Universities as well as Newcastle and Gateshead Colleges.

The company has also championed a range of local grass roots community sports, collaborated with the Red Sky Foundation to install defibrillators across South Tyneside and is the official sponsor of the HLA Business Club at South Shields FC.

Director, Paul Smith, said: “Winning Business of the Year at the Best of South Tyneside Awards is a real team effort. As a company, we pride ourselves on providing long term employment within South Tyneside.

“Many of our team are based in the borough and it is great to be recognised and supported by the local business community. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and want to say a huge congratulations to all nominees and award winners.”

Councillor Margaret Meling, lead member for economic growth and transport, said: “As one of the more than 200 companies to have signed up to the South Tyneside Pledge, HLA does so much to help the Borough to thrive.

“It is fantastic to see a company going above and beyond for the area in which it is based and its success at the South Tyneside Business Awards is richly deserved.”
