Promising Young Lawyer Qualifies As Solicitor

Issue 113

Jacksons Wills Trusts and Probate Team benefit from Chloe’s commitment and dedication

A promising young lawyer has qualified as a solicitor at Jacksons, having started her career with the firm as a legal secretary three years ago.

Chloe Thompson took the position of secretary in the firm’s dispute resolution department in May 2022, after completing her undergraduate law degree and a Masters in Law incorporating the Legal Practice Course (LPC).

The firm, whose recent rebrand highlighted how it has people – both employees and clients – at its heart, soon realised Chloe had a lot of potential, and she was awarded a training contract just over a year after she joined the firm.

Now, Chloe has qualified as a solicitor and will continue working in the firm’s wills, trusts and probate team.

“It’s quite hard to get a training contract so I started out as secretary to get some experience within a law firm,” said Chloe.

“I saw that it was a lovely place to work where everyone is supportive, so I was keen to work my way up.

“I’ve been in a few different teams at Jacksons – dispute resolution, employment and the corporate team, before ending my training contract in the wills, trusts and probate team.

“All teams have all been very supportive and took me under their wing, but I feel like this is the area I am at home in and want to continue to develop my career here.

“All of the experience I have had with the different teams has been extremely beneficial to what I’m doing now,” she said.

“I enjoy working in the wills, trusts and probate team as you get to know all the different types of clients and I was lucky that I learnt from the best on what advice to provide to clients regarding wills and estates from Helen Milburn and the team.

“I’m really pleased to have qualified as a solicitor at Jacksons after years of hard work – it has paid off and for Jacksons to confirm I’m finally a fully qualified solicitor has given me a great sense of achievement.”

Chloe was treated to having her desk decorated by the team and said everyone “made it quite special”.

She would now like to continue her career with Jacksons and “never stop learning”.

“I want to stay here for as long as I can,” she said.

“I found a good law firm when I took the job as secretary and have been lucky enough to get the training contract and stay.”

Helen Milburn, a partner who heads up the private client team said Chloe had been “very impressive” since joining them last September.

“From the start, I just knew how good she was going to be,” said Helen.

“She fitted in really well with the team immediately as she is such a helpful and kind person.

“She’s very calm and just gets on with things, using her own initiative – before I’ve asked her to do something, she’s already done it!

“She had everything you want to see in a trainee solicitor, and we were really keen to keep her on after she qualified.”

Helen added she was “really pleased” the firm had been able to provide that opportunity for her, as she feels sure Chloe will “go far”.

“Qualifying as a solicitor is a huge milestone for her and to have her on our team as a solicitor is fantastic for us; the plan now is for Chloe to continue to develop her career with Jacksons,” she said.
