Following a hugely successful run in London’s West End, I was delighted to return to the Sunderland Empire to see the new UK & Ireland Tour of Pretty Woman The Musical.
Based on the iconic film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, it was fantastic to see this “pretty romantic, pretty magical” show brought to life on stage. One of Hollywood’s most beloved rom-coms, Pretty Woman follows the romantic love story of Vivian Ward and wealthy entrepreneur Edward Lewis, as they try to bridge the gap between their social worlds.
Accompanied by a dazzlingly theatrical score, including Roy Orbison’s smash-hit song ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’, the sensational show featured exceptional vocals and slick choreography that brought the audience to a well-deserved standing ovation.
Showcasing a talented all-star cast, Pretty Woman The Musical stars West End sensation Oliver Saville as Edward Lewis, as well as Strictly Come Dancing champion Ore Oduba as Happy Man/Mr Thompson. Another stand-out performance was Back to the Future: The Musical star Amber Davies, whose outstanding voice and comedic performance of Vivian Ward really stole the show.
