Age UK Northumberland is about to host an event with a difference to ensure that older people in our community can thrive.
Moving away from the traditional fundraiser evening ball the team at the locally run charity are asking people to get ready to turn back the clock, dust off their dancing shoes and relive the music that defined generations, at The Ultimate Smash Hits Daytime Ball this October.
Taking place on Thursday 8th October 2026 at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, the vibrant daytime event promises an afternoon packed with iconic 70s, 80s and 90s hits, nostalgia, laughter, dancing and plenty of opportunities to make memories with friends, colleagues and loved ones. Jill Lloyd, Head of Charity for Age UK Northumberland, said: “We have designed our annual fundraising event for those who love great music but perhaps don’t fancy staying out until midnight, the event runs from 12pm until 7pm – meaning you can enjoy a proper party and still be home before bedtime!
“Guests will be treated to a four-course meal, a generous drinks package and entertainment throughout the day. Live music will come courtesy of the fantastic six-piece band Hip Operation, bringing the biggest hits to the dancefloor. There will also be a Silent Disco, giving guests the chance to choose their favourite tunes, alongside the wonderfully chaotic Bonkers Boogie Bingo.”
Whether your favourite decade was the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s or ’00s, or you simply love a brilliant singalong, there’s something for everyone. Expect big tunes, familiar faces, questionable dance moves and plenty of those “Oh, I LOVE this song!” moments.

By attending, guests will help raise funds for Age UK Northumberland, supporting the charity’s work with older people across the county. From tackling loneliness and social isolation to providing information and advice, friendship, social opportunities and practical support.
