Growthprovision: North East Roots, Global Reach

Issue 125

When Nick Williams and Richard Fowler founded GrowthProvision, they weren't looking to build another marketing agency

Instead, they saw an opportunity to help financial services businesses achieve something many were struggling with: translating expertise into sustainable growth.

The pair arrived at that conclusion from different directions. Nick’s background was in financial services, having worked within investment management and financial advice. Richard’s experience came through entrepreneurship, business ownership and commercial growth. Together, they recognised a common challenge.

Across the financial services sector, there are countless businesses delivering real value to their clients, yet many struggle to clearly articulate what makes them different, build awareness in their target markets or create a consistent growth system.

That challenge is one of the reasons GrowthProvision was created.

The business works exclusively within financial services, supporting a wide range of organisations including financial planning firms, wealth managers, asset managers, lenders, fintech and wealth technology businesses, compliance providers, outsourced support firms and financial institutions.

For Nick and Richard, the sector’s appeal goes far beyond commercial opportunity.

Financial services touches almost every aspect of modern life. It helps people prepare for retirement, build wealth, protect their families, access funding, go to market faster, more cost-effectively and efficiently, as well as manage risk and make better financial decisions. Businesses across the sector play a vital role in supporting economic growth and financial wellbeing.

There is also an enormous amount of innovation taking place.

Whilst financial services is sometimes viewed as a traditional industry, the reality is very different. Technology, automation, artificial intelligence and digital platforms are rapidly transforming how firms operate, engage with customers and deliver services. The pace of change continues to accelerate, creating exciting opportunities for businesses willing to adapt and evolve.

This progress, Nick and Richard believe, creates significant and growing untapped potential across the sector.

Many firms possess exceptional expertise, strong client outcomes and compelling propositions, but often struggle to communicate those strengths effectively or translate them into sustained client acquisition. In some cases, businesses know exactly what they do but find it harder to explain why it matters to the people they are trying to reach.

And, of course, some know exactly what to do, but require the additional bolt-on specialist resource to achieve it.

That is where GrowthProvision focuses its efforts, helping financial services firms better understand their audiences, refine their positioning and develop client acquisition and, importantly, retention strategies that align with their commercial objectives.

That work often begins with customer insight, segmentation and strategic planning, before extending into branding, websites, content, digital marketing, lead generation and client communication programmes.

The goal is not simply greater visibility.

It is growth.

That may mean helping a business attract new clients, strengthen relationships with existing ones, launch a new proposition, enter a new market or build greater confidence in its brand.

Since its launch, GrowthProvision has grown to support a wide range of clients across the UK and internationally. Operating remote-first, the company continues to develop its people and systems to support both its own growth and that of its clients.

Whilst the client base has expanded far beyond the North East, Nick and Richard remain proud of the region they call home.

Both hailing from Guisborough, Nick still calls the town home, whilst Richard is now based in Newcastle. They believe some of the country’s most ambitious businesses are being built outside London, and that modern technology has created opportunities for start-ups and established regional firms to compete nationally and globally in ways that were previously impossible.

Looking ahead, both founders remain ebullient on the future of financial services and the role the sector will continue to play in helping individuals and institutions achieve their goals.

For GrowthProvision, the mission remains unchanged: helping great financial services businesses of all sizes and shapes realise their growth ambitions and ensure the value they create reaches more of the people who need it.
