David Adams' decision to move law firms for the first time in 20 years reflects "exciting growth trajectory" of 150-year-old firm.
A Teesside lawyer with almost 20 years’ experience advising on a wide range of business transactions and acquisitions has joined the corporate and commercial team at Jacksons in a partner’s role.
David Adams’ appointment reflects Jacksons’ ongoing commitment to growth, innovation and high-quality legal expertise, as the firm celebrates its landmark 150th anniversary in 2026.
The appointment sees David, who joined Archers Law LLP in 2007, qualified in 2009 and became a partner there in 2013, move firms for the first time in almost 20 years.
Reflecting on a “momentous few weeks” in which he has also moved house and found out where his twin daughters will be studying at secondary school, David said: “I’ve been a one-office lawyer throughout my career, but as I approach 43, I felt it was time for a refresh and a new challenge.
“I have a couple of long-standing friends at Jacksons, including Dan Flounders, who I worked with at Archers and later Knights for over 10 years.
“Seeing the changes at Jacksons sparked my interest, and what they’re doing both at firm level and within the corporate team sounded very exciting.”
He added: “Jacksons is already on an exciting growth trajectory, and Dan has really driven momentum within the corporate team, so I’m excited to see what we can achieve together over the next few years.”
David said joining Jacksons felt like a natural continuation of the work he and Dan have built together over the years.
He and Dan grew the corporate offering at Archers into one of the most successful corporate teams in Teesside.
David gets most of his job satisfaction in working with local SMEs – and as a “Teesside lawyer through and through” loves working “with and for Teesside firms”.
“Jacksons felt the right fit for me to continue supporting those clients,” he said, adding the firm’s independence and strong identity within the region were also key factors in his decision.
The firm’s approach to flexible working and work-life balance also played an important role in his move.
“I wanted to be sure any move supported the flexibility and work-life balance I need, whilst also providing an exciting challenge for the next chapter of my career,” said the fatherof-two.
“All my interactions with Jacksons convinced me that they really care about their team.
“They’re forward-thinking, they’re focused on employee wellbeing, and it’s so important to me.”
Partner Erica Turner, Jacksons’ head of legal, said David’s wealth of experience would be a “huge asset” to the corporate and commercial department.
She added: “David’s appointment also aligns with Jacksons’ strategic aims to build a strong corporate proposition within the firm and we are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
Partner and head of corporate and commercial Dan Flounders said: “I’m really pleased to be welcoming David to the team who will no doubt be a key part of the corporate team’s future growth.
“We worked together at Archers for many years having a great dynamic and supporting each other to create one of the go-to corporate law offerings in the area.
“This appointment highlights where Jacksons currently is as a firm and being able to attract one of the best corporate lawyers in the North East region, it’s exciting to see where both the department and the firm go in the next few years.”
