Financial support for the parents of seriously ill children.
What were your key achievements this year?
We are proud that we are able to continue supporting our inspirational families, and we can be there for them through the worst times.
We received this feedback earlier in the year and it shows just what our support means to families.
“Thank you so much for this opportunity to us as a family. We are so blessed and grateful for the amount of money that has been granted to us by yourselves we will never ever forget this. While our world was falling apart and the bills were heavy on our shoulders you have all gave us space to breathe again. I just can’t stop saying thank you.”
Thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket to an event, sponsored a friend running the Great North Run, or shared our posts; you make this happen and we are truly grateful.
Has everything gone according to plan?
Does anything ever go entirely to plan?! It has been a tough year, it is getting harder and harder to raise funds, costs are increasing, and people are trying to cut back where they can. We just need to keep going and this year we have risen above the challenges thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the hard work of the team.
What are you most proud of this year?
This year we were delighted that our Market Ladies, including Charlie and Carter’s Nana were nominated for a BBC Newcastle Make a Difference Award. None of these ladies volunteer for the recognition or awards, but we are incredibly proud of them all and wanted to show our appreciation. The ladies were treated to afternoon tea at Newcastle Racecourse, and all had a lovely day. Unfortunately, they didn’t come away with the win, but to us they are all winners and we couldn’t do without them.
What has been the most enjoyable event this year?
We’ve had so many amazing events this year it’s hard to pick just one out!
Our Fundraising Manager Laura said her favourite event was the Grand Final of Mr Gay GB this summer. The final at Alnwick Castle was amazing, the finalists all put so much effort into their looks for the catwalk and we are absolutely over the moon that they raised just over £19,500 for The Charlie and Carter Foundation!
Sarah Cookson, Charlie and Carter’s Mammy, said her favourite event was the Trek for Charlie and Carter back in April. Sarah very rarely gets out as she is busy running the charity and running her dance school as well. This event is the one day she gets outside, is able to switch off and just enjoy chatting to the supporters who take part!
Describe 2025 in three words….
Gone in a flash. We know that was four but where has the year gone?!
What are you looking forward to in 2026?
Next year we are looking forward to the return of some of our favourite events, but we will also be adding new events into the mix!
