Prestigious Scholarship Award For Mowden Pupil

Issue 118

A talented Year 8 pupil from Mowden Hall School has been recognised with a major scholarship honour.

Isla Odd has been awarded the Michael Palin All-Rounder Scholarship at Shrewsbury School, one of the UK’s leading independent schools.

Founded in 1552, Shrewsbury School has a long tradition of recognising exceptional talent through its scholarship programme. The All-Rounder Scholarship celebrates pupils who demonstrate outstanding aptitude in two specialist areas, chosen from Sport, Music, Drama, and either Art or Design Technology.

Isla, whose chosen specialisms were Sport and Music, impressed throughout a rigorous selection process and was chosen from hundreds of applicants across the country.

Headteacher Phil Sturt said: “We are absolutely delighted for Isla. This is a wonderful and well-deserved achievement.”

“The Michael Palin Scholarship is awarded to pupils who not only excel in their chosen areas but also embody enthusiasm and a love of learning – qualities that Isla shows every day. We are immensely proud of her, and I know the whole Mowden Hall community will join me in congratulating her on this outstanding success.”

Scholarship competitions are highly competitive, demanding commitment, resilience, and courage. Simply taking part is an achievement in itself, and all Mowden Hall’s Year 8 scholars are to be commended for their effort and determination this year.
