If there was any area of the North East where it's the perfect time to look at buying a new home, it has to be Blyth.
It was announced not that many months ago that plans were now underway to re-introduce direct passenger trains from south east Northumberland to the centre of Newcastle – a service that was last available in the 1960s.
Six new stations are proposed, including Newsham at a cost of £135m and described as the “most ambitious” part of this scheme.
But what it also means is very good news for current and prospective homeowners at Miller Homes’ neighbouring Longshore Village development, who should be able to reach the centre of Newcastle in little more than 20 minutes.
Hot on the heels of this announcement came the unveiling of exciting plans to create a vibrant new cultural centre to the town, as part of the council’s Energising Blyth scheme.
This multi-million pound scheme will see the transformation of some of the town centre and the building of a three screen cinema, café and event spaces – and should be up and running by 2024.
Blyth is certainly earning its title of ” a coastal haven” here it has also seen the creation of phase one of The Links, a huge retail and leisure development which has already attracted a mix of national and local traders.
With phase two also on the cards, there isn’t a better time to be buying a home in the area.
That’s certainly the feeling of Aisling Ramshaw, sales director at Miller Homes North East, whose Longshore Village development will have all of these new attractions virtually on the doorstep.
Longshore Village comprises a selection of three to five bedroom homes and while it’s already extremely popular, the exciting developments near by add to its overall appeal.
“South east Northumberland is undoubtedly a desirable option for buyers thanks to its coastal position, but with all of these new developments it’s got even more appeal,” said Aisling.
“The challenges of getting to and from Newcastle will be greatly reduced by the new train line, which means that homeowners can have the best of both worlds – easy access to the city but also a huge amount of attractions and assets right on their doorstep.”
Aisling also believes that Blyth will also start to attract investment buyers, because of the growing appeal of the area as a whole.
“People prize living by the coast and having both leisure and retail facilities close by just adds to the overall appeal,” she said.
