Elanders UK has announced the appointment of David Pritchard as supply chain team leader at its sister company, Bergen Logistics.
In January, Elanders launched the Bergen Logistics brand in the UK with a 48,000 sq ft facility in North Tyneside.
A specialist fashion and lifestyle fulfilment brand, Bergen Logistics occupies a £4.6 million unit on Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate, facilitated by UK Land Estates.
Before taking up his new role, David, was factory shift manager with Elanders UK, also based in North Tyneside, for 20 years. He will lead the team at the Bergen Logistics site and oversee the company’s supply chain strategy.
Established in Sweden, Elanders is a global group, operating across Europe, Asia and the Americas. It is a global partner for integrated supply chain solutions with over 90 operations across four continents. It provides flexible and agile solutions for complex supply chains, providing customers with value-added services such as print and packaging resources, which are integrated into its core business model.
The Bergen Logistics expansion in the UK is set to create up to 60 jobs and will complement the Elanders offering in North Tyneside, with a combined headcount of around 200 staff.
David, said: “I joined Elanders UK straight from sixth school. It was meant to be a stop-gap but here I am 20 years later. I have remained because of the culture, it has a family feel and I have progressed through the ranks thanks to the knowledge, experience and learning offered to me by my colleagues.
“I am looking forward to putting my stamp on this role and to building our team. We anticipate that by the end of 2023, 60 jobs will be created and we are actively recruiting for a variety of positions.
“Moving forward, the opportunities are massive for the Bergen Logistics. We have value added services which appeal to our customers including our integrated offering of pick/pack and e-fulfilment. We also offer storage solutions and relabelling.
“The Bergen Logistics brand will expand its presence across the UK, EU and USA, providing fulfilment services to the fashion and lifestyle sectors, to include clothing, footwear, handbags, accessories and cosmetics, home goods, medical devices and supplements.”
Kevin Rogers, managing director for Elanders in the UK, which also has operational sites in Scotland, Birmingham and Nottingham, said: “We have very ambitious growth plans and North Tyneside is home to a highly skilled and dedicated workforce, of which David is an incredible example.”
