Uniting Your Workforce From Within Microsoft Teams

Issue 63

Microsoft Teams is a vital workplace tool that many have embraced. Teams offers chat-based communication, real-time collaboration, video meetings, intelligent bot frameworks, and more

The rise of remote working during lockdown has led many to appreciate the capabilities offered by Teams, with the daily active users reaching 75 million as of April. But many query the difference between Microsoft Teams and a modern intranet solution.

An intranet offers news capabilities, web pages, structured data, and intelligent search capabilities where Teams is more messaging and meeting focused. However, digital transformation leaders, Valo, have recently launched a solution that integrates the capabilities of the two – Valo Connect.

Valo Connect is the latest offering from digital transformation leaders Valo, it offers a complementary experience to Modern SharePoint, integrating natively with Microsoft Teams. Valo Connect sits inside Microsoft Teams to augment its capabilities, enhancing search, accumulating news and connecting employees. Valo Connect can integrate any SharePoint page inside Teams and allows you to create a tab-based navigation of the application. By placing the capabilities of a modern intranet within Teams, organisations can access the benefits of each solution and end users can do everything they need to do from one central location. So what are the features?

Personal App

By offering your intranet as a personal app within Teams, news and content can be delivered to end users without them having to leave Microsoft Teams. This integration is not limited to merely SharePoint intranet pages, users can bring in content from Power Apps, websites, or even custom web parts as a tab within their application or even integrate other Valo products. You can customise your app, choosing a set of tabs that suits your needs. The Connect app is available on desktop, web, and mobile.

Teams tab

The Teams tab within the Valo Connect app supports both private and public channels and allows users to search for any files both within the whole Team or within a specific channel, filter files by properties, see content type, and open any document within the context of Teams. Users may also search for any news available within the current Team and see this news without having to exit Teams. Pre-approved tabs can be added with the ability to clarify whether a page should be considered default when adding Valo Connect on a channel.

By integrating the capabilities of a modern intranet within Teams, Valo offers a solution that enhances the Teams experience and centralises the communication and collaboration tools your organisation needs. By fostering a single-truth environment in which it is easy to access content and communications, as well as search and filter content, Valo Connect makes teamwork simple, personal, and efficient. Valo Connect launched on October 13th after the run of an early adopters program.
