An event which connects start-up ventures with the wider business community is being sponsored by law firm Sintons.
Founders’ Friday is a monthly event providing a forum for owners of new, existing and potential businesses to meet with professional advisors and business figures, allowing them to share ideas and inspiration, as a means of helping their ventures to grow further. Attendees come from across the country, with a number travelling up from London for the event.
The Founders’ Friday initiative, organised by Plan Digital UK, is a spin-out from the hugely successful Newcastle Startup Week – which will return for a third consecutive year in 2019 – and is held at TusPark Newcastle.
The inaugural event, is being sponsored by Newcastle law firm Sintons. Among the all-day programme of workshops, masterclasses and guest speakers includes presentations from tech specialist lawyer Lucy Cook, a senior associate at Sintons, alongside corporate solicitor Luke Philpott.
Karen Simms, head of corporate and commercial at Sintons, said: “The North East is awash with emerging talent in a host of sectors, with tech being one of the most dynamic and fast-growing of all. Yet again, the region is making waves nationally and internationally with much of the work being done here, and our team at Sintons is a go-to advisor in supporting the continued growth and development of these businesses.
“Founders’ Friday is a fantastic event for helping to inspire start-up ventures and we are delighted to lend our support. We have a hugely capable team at Sintons, with over 220 years’ combined experience, and a reputation for being among the best in the North of England. We advise entrepreneurs from concept stage to launch, through to growth and expansion.
“The Corporate team acts for startups, university spin-outs and businesses looking to raise capital, management buy in- and buy-out teams, joint ventures, partnerships, private investors and business angels. Our commercial lawyers help businesses to manage risks in an ever-shifting regulatory environment (including GDPR) and capitalise on opportunities in relation to their concepts, intellectual property and contractual arrangements with third parties.”
Paul Lancaster, founder of Plan Digital and Newcastle Startup Week, said: “The purpose of our new Founders’ Friday events on the last Friday of every month is to provide a regular home for new, existing and potential business startup founders in the North East to come together with members of the wider business community to share knowledge, gain feedback and support one another.
“As a full-service law firm based in Newcastle, I’m delighted to have Sintons on board as sponsors and speakers for our first event and have been impressed by how proactive, supportive and knowledgeable they are when it comes to tech/digital startups, scaleups and enterprise level businesses in the North East, North West and other parts of the UK.”
