Sos Group Support Offers More Than A Sporting Chance

Issue 124

Internationally significant sporting events have become a key component of SOS Group's client base, and sport is a personal passion for the office technology company's three directors.

During 2026, SOS Group will be helping deliver high profile events for clients including Swim England, Aquatics GB, British Universities and Colleges Sports, English Schools Swimming Association and UK Athletics.

Events can range from one day to two weeks in duration in venues as large as 13,000 square metres and requiring as many as 50 devices.

Last year, the company provided office technology solutions at events including the Swim England Open Water National Championships, the Aquatics GB Diving Championships and Novuna UK Athletics Championships.

The Gateshead-based firm was also recently awarded the contract to supply the European Athletics Championships 2026 being held in Birmingham.

Given their national involvement in sport, it is no surprise that the copy print scan specialists are strong supporters of local sporting talent, whether that is sponsoring individuals and teams or supporting inclusion in sport.

Director, John Behan, explains: “Sport plays such an important role in our region, and we’re committed to helping nurture the talent and ambition that make the North East so special.

“We believe that sport brings people together, promotes wellbeing, and strengthens community spirit.

“It’s something that’s personally and professionally important to us and every time we help deliver a major sports event, wherever we are across the country, we always look out for the local names competing”

Most recently, within the North East, SOS Group has supported activities as diverse as lawn bowling, triathlon and basketball.

The company is also proud to continue its long-term support for the Sport Newcastle Awards, and the inspiring work they do to champion the next generation of local sporting heroes.

As the city’s oldest and most inclusive sports charity, Sport Newcastle is dedicated to supporting grassroots sport and helping young people, clubs, and organisations achieve their sporting dreams.

At their most recent awards night, SOS Group sponsored the ‘Community Champion Award,’ which John was proud to present to Newcastle Eagles Foundation Chief Executive, Sam Blake.

Matthew Squires, Sport Newcastle Trustee and Head of Fundraising, said: “The Sport Newcastle Awards showcase the very best of sport across our region, from the rising stars to the local heroes who inspire us all.

“Continued support from partners like SOS Group enables us to back aspiring athletes, proactive community projects, ambitious clubs, and forward thinking coaches.”

Inclusion in sport, in both competitive and non competitive environments, is something everyone at SOS Group is passionate about.

John explains: “Sport is such a force for good and should be for everyone.

“We recently agreed to support the Riding Disability Association Championships for the next five years. It’s the world’s biggest equestrian disability event, and something we’ve been part of for some time, and we’re pleased to commit longer term.

“We’re also proud to take an active role in supporting both the Reason To Disability Triathlon in Hexham and the Yorkshire Ability Triathlon.

“They’re fantastic events designed for people with special educational needs and disabilities in which participants can take part at their own pace.

“With the right support, equipment and adaptations, everyone can experience the joy of sport. We love being part of it all.”

SOS Group also recently announced an extension of its partnership with Newcastle Panthers Volleyball Club.

Based in Newcastle, the Newcastle Panthers offers access to volleyball for players of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

The club prides itself on being one of the North East’s most diverse sporting communities, welcoming members from a wide range of nationalities and promoting inclusion in every aspect of the game.

John adds: “Supporting regional clubs and organisations allows us to give back to the communities where we live and work, helping to nurture talent, promote inclusivity and keep local sport thriving.

“As a company, we work at the highest level of sport, delivering office technology services at national and international competitions all over the country and it’s always a privilege to see the commitment of the competitors and the power of sport to transform lives.”

Established in 2002, SOS Group is an award winning office technology company facilitating business requirements across all sectors and specialising in providing copy, print, scan solutions.
