The Dumfries office of Activ Technology, is once again putting its support behind the much-loved Big Burns Supper Festival, which takes place in the town each year.
Burns suppers are held throughout the world celebrating the life and poetry of Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796).
Dumfries Big Burns Supper runs for 11 days from 24 January – 2 February and includes shows and events for all the family presented in a range of pubs, taverns, galleries and museums, including a 1000 capacity Spiegeltent, which attracts international performers and audiences.
Big Burns Supper is the world’s largest Burns celebration, based in Dumfries the final resting place of Robbie Burns, as well as being a living museum to his memory. His favourite pub, The Globe, is within walking distance of the Spiegeltent and the farm he built is on the outskirts of the town.
Headline shows this year include musical theatrical extravaganza, Moulin Rouge and Le Haggis, both of which are set to draw in big crowds.
Managing director at Activ Technology, Ian Gillespie, said: “Having established a relationship with Elektronika, the producer behind the cultural experience, we were keen to continue to support the much-loved festival.
“In between the two Burns suppers, Activ Technology has had a very productive year following the opening of our Dumfries office in November 2018. We have been delighted with the way we have been welcomed in to the region and have secured some fantastic new clients. This is reflected in the fact that both our annual revenue and profits have increased during the last year and we predict another strong year in Scotland during 2020.
“We were happy to again assist with an IT and telecoms solution and our 85 inch Promethean interactive ActivPanel will be used to share footage of a mass karaoke event taking place within the Spiegeltent.
“We have also donated several PCs which will assist in putting a scanning system ticket office in place and enable social wi-fi to reach over 2,000 people.
“This event is all about the people. Big Burns Supper relies on the support of the community to pull the event together and make it a jewel in the crown of the region for entertainment. It is a feel good event for all of the family.”
“Graham Main, Big Burns Supper executive producer, said: “Today we open the ninth Big Burns Supper, a festival which is rooted not so much in the traditional aspects associated with Burns such as reciting poetry, we are all about bringing people together. Our festival community is what makes the festival possible, it’s why we are still here nine years later and going strong. We couldn’t deliver the festival to its current scale without the fantastic support from so many, including of course the wonderful team at Activ Technology who have kindly supplied our IT and telecom systems, without which we just couldn’t provide our audiences with the service they rightly expect. Big Burns Supper proves that when a community works together, anything is possible.”
