Trade association, Northern Counties Builders Federation (NCBF), has re-elected Angela Carney as president to July 2027.
Managing director at Carney Consultancy, Angela has been president since 2024.
In the construction industry for more than 35 years, Angela sits on several industry boards and is highly respected for her commitment to bridging the skills gap and promoting the sector to females.
As president, she is supported by Chris Morris, senior vice president and Matthew McCarrick, junior-vice president and Tony Kay as secretary.
During Angela’s two years as president, the profile of the NCBF has significantly increased, as it focuses on bridging the skills gap, improving the industry’s reputation, promoting careers in construction and supporting SMEs.
In line with this, a new website and brand refresh has helped modernise the NCBF’s image as it showcases the breadth of career opportunities available in the sector.
Angela Carney, said: “At a time when the Government is putting so much emphasis on the construction sector, the NCBF is involved in a range of very focussed, high-profile campaigns, that demonstrate the ambition, determination and passion member companies have to ensure it meets the region’s growth targets.”
The NCBF is currently collaborating with colleges across the region to connect employers with final year trade students looking to take their first steps into the world of work, via its Building Your Future campaign, a key initiative to directly address the skills shortage in the sector.
Other initiatives include working with Constructing Excellence North East to launch its annual Built Environment Wonder Challenge, engaging Year 8 pupils to act as mini construction companies, designing sustainable, eco-friendly developments to solve real-world problems.
Tony Kay, secretary of the NCBF, said: “Congratulations to Angela on her re-election. Under her leadership we have achieved a great deal. We have a packed agenda for the year ahead and we are in good shape to deliver against the targets we have set.”
