Stacey Gets Snappy With Video

Issue 70

Stacey Sweeney is the driving force behind Scarlet Butterfly Media.

She heads the video and photography company which also includes her father, Laurence. It’s a perfect arrangement. Stacey looks after the video side of the business while Laurence concentrates leads on what could be best described as traditional ‘stills’ photography. Stacey is one of the region’s most skilled videographers. If you flick through the various portfolio pages on her website you’ll find some brilliant examples of what she’s up to. There’s drone footage and time lapse videos, both of which are integrated into promotional videos. Put it this way, if you want your company to stand out or for your training videos to have a wow factor, you need to have a chat with Stacey. “I used to watch my father when I helped him at sporting events and weddings or when he was taking head shots for company brochures and websites,” said Stacey. “It really fired my imagination and led me to studying ‘Moving Image’ at Newcastle College. I graduated six years ago, launched Scarlet Butterfly Media and have steadily increased the amount of services we can offer. Without doubt, drone footage and the raft of computer techniques which are now available, has revolutionised the sort of material we can now produce.” And it’s no surprise that Stacey is building a terrific reputation for the quality of her work and her eye for detail. Her video work has been used by BBC Look North and the Tyne & Wear Archives and Museums. Companies like Hargreaves and Henry Williams also use Scarlet Butterfly. Stacey works extensively with the education sector producing videos of schools and colleges which can then be used by parents and students to view facilities and hear interviews with key members of staff. She also specialises in work for estate agents. This is an area where Scarlet Butterfly has seen a boom in interest. “We have produced walk-through and drone videos of properties. For example, our work for Sanderson Young allows them to show clients exactly what a property looks like, inside and out, without the need to actually visit. Of course, this has been particularly important during the Coronavirus pandemic where people agents and developers were unable to allow potential purchasers into homes and commercial premises.” Stacey has also produced videos for charities like the Open North Foundation and NE Youth. She’s completed work with hotels and bars who’ve undergone refurbishment. She’s even produced promotional videos for holiday companies. In other words, Stacey and Laurence Sweeney can provide you with a full videography and photography service.
