Networking Event Brings Out Some Of The North East’s Most Influential Business Women

Issue 73

Kim Forster, financial advisor at Northern Spire Limited, brought together some of the most successful women in North East business, at a networking event hosted at Six restaurant, the Baltic.

The event featured a number of inspirational speakers including commercial director at Citizens Advice Gateshead, Jayne Graham MBE, Tees Valley Network manager at The Girls Network, Aimee Thomson, entrepreneur and director at Gifted Studios, Corinne Lewis-Ward, service delivery coordinator at Smart Works, Eilish Malliagh and spiritualist, Suzanne Gill.

Northern Spire, which has offices in Sunderland, is a senior partner practice of St James’s Place Wealth Management. It provides a wide range of financial services for clients looking to build, grow, protect or preserve wealth.

Kim Forster, said: “This is the return to the first of many women’s networking events I will be hosting. Pre-pandemic, they were a regular feature and extremely well received by those in attendance. Networking is an essential part of any business person’s journey and it is one that should be embraced and celebrated. Over the years, I have built a significant part of my working relationships through meeting people in a more social and relaxed setting.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended and also extend my gratitude to all of the speakers. I have received fantastic feedback and the atmosphere in the room spoke for itself. It is important for women to support other women and that is exactly what we saw at the event.”

Jayne Graham MBE, said: “”Having the opportunity to speak about Citizens Advice Gateshead’s new Charity Partner campaign at the event, with the wonderful backdrop provided by the Baltic, was a real privilege. The support and positive feedback from so many inspirational women at my first in-person networking event of 2021 was quite overwhelming, and having Kim’s generous backing before, during and after the event made a real difference.”

Aimee Thomson, manager at The Girls Network, said: “Given the nature of what we do, connecting young girls within our network with female mentors working within business, we are strong advocates for women supporting women and the power of networking events.

“Kim, not only facilitated the event impeccably, but also created a welcoming atmosphere and it was clear that everyone at the event had an excellent evening. The Girls’ Network was given the opportunity to speak about the work we do and it was great to meet a plethora of well-connected women within the region, some of whom have indicated they want to get involved with our work. We look forward to seeing how these relationships may flourish and benefit the young women within our network.”
