Marketing And Media Matters

Issue 119

Margaret Bradshaw - Managing Director, Performance For Sales.

Did you always envisage a career in the Marketing and Media Industry?

I started out in Hotel and Catering because I loved the idea of checking people were enjoying their experience so I guess you could say, “kind of”!

What has been your career path so far?

Hospitality management then into recruitment where I worked for Manpower. I then moved into radio advertising sales before joining an accounting firm as their marketing manager and setting up the marketing department.

What have been the biggest challenges you have faced so far?

Starting my own business has been a challenge for sure, also innovating and developing has not been without its hurdles. Juggling family and work was tricky but I’m now very happy that my children are forging their way in the world. It’s a pleasure to see that and support when needed.

Who do you respect most in your industry?

I am fortunate to span two industries, marketing and training – I am so respectful of the incredible skills within marketing where the range of talent and creativity is always inspiring, I also have lots of respect for people involved in training and development because of the level of dedication it takes to design and deliver something that impacts a person for a long time.

Which fictional media character can you most relate to?

Miss Marple without any doubt!

What is your greatest strength?

Resilience.

What is your biggest weakness?

Not always using it enough and in the right places.

What has been your proudest achievement?

Apart from having my lovely children it has to be creating something that has made a difference to somebody else.

What are your future career aspirations?

To expand our business and welcome more training partners.

What is the best piece of business advice you have been given?

It’s yours to lose!

How do you see your industry evolving in the next 10 years?

I will focus on the training industry here where I feel that more focus will be placed on skills around employabilty, confidence and communication.

How do you like to unwind?

Sing in a band, drink coffee while watching people and have a disco dance when I can!
