Investing In The Next Generation Of Marketing Talent

Issue 127

There is no substitute for experience, however, every successful marketing professional has to start somewhere.

Six months ago, Thomas Halse joined Riverside Marketing Solutions and in that short time he has become an enthusiastic and valued member of the business, bringing with him creativity and a genuine eagerness to learn.

Becoming an integral part of the business, he has embraced every opportunity to develop his skills while gaining valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of client projects.

Marketing is an industry that never stands still. New technologies, social media platforms and digital trends emerge almost daily, making it more important than ever to combine experience with fresh thinking. Bringing young people into the workplace not only helps develop future talent but also introduces new perspectives, ideas and creativity that can benefit both the business and its clients.

Whether supporting client campaigns or creating engaging social media and video content, he has embraced every challenge and continues to develop his skills and confidence.

One of the highlights of Thomas’ first six months has been attending business events across the North East. Networking with local organisations, meeting business owners and learning about the challenges and ambitions of different sectors has given him a real appreciation of the region’s vibrant business community. It’s also helped him understand the importance of building strong relationships, something that sits at the heart of Riverside Marketing.

Alongside his day-to-day role, Thomas has recently begun studying towards a Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification in Professional & Digital Marketing, further demonstrating his commitment to building a successful career in the industry. The qualification complements the practical experience he’s gaining within the business, allowing him to apply industry best practice to real client projects while continuing to expand his knowledge of the ever-changing marketing landscape.

Nicola Halse, owner of Riverside Marketing, believes investing in young people benefits both businesses and clients, “I’ve been absolutely delighted with Thomas’ progress over the past six months. His enthusiasm, willingness to learn and positive attitude have made him a real asset to the business. As his confidence and experience have grown, it’s enabled us to support more clients, broaden our service offering and continue delivering the high standards our clients expect.

Most importantly, Thomas is gaining valuable real-world experience across all aspects of marketing, something that’s helping him build the foundations for what I’m sure will be a very successful career.

Attending networking events can be daunting, particularly for young people, however, the North East business community has been so welcoming and friendly towards Thomas, it’s really helped him settle in and feel part of the business world.”

Nicola continued, “Recruiting young people is sometimes viewed as a leap of faith but my experience has shown that with the right support and opportunities they can make a meaningful contribution from day one. They bring fresh ideas, a different perspective and an instinctive understanding of emerging digital platforms and trends, helping to keep creativity flowing and ensuring our approach continues to evolve.

Thomas has already achieved so much in just six months and this is only the beginning. I’m incredibly proud of everything he has accomplished so far and excited to watch him continue to develop both personally and professionally.

Investing in young talent isn’t just about shaping the future of one individual, it’s about strengthening the future of our business, our industry and the clients we’re privileged to support.”
