North East social, digital & design agency Curtis Gabriel are the latest local business to back Sport Newcastle's ambitious Tokyo & Beyond fundraising appeal.
The appeal is also backed by Olympic triple jump champion and world record holder, Jonathan Edwards CBE, aims to raise £20,000 over the next 12 months to support the region’s top young Olympic & Paralympic hopefuls in their quest to reach the forthcoming Olympic Games.
Sport Newcastle is a local charity that has been supporting young people in the North East for 52 years. In that time, they have given out grants totalling over £3million to hundreds of young people & dozens of clubs, covering every conceivable sport.
Matthew Squires, Account Director at Curtis Gabriel said, “We are delighted to be supporting the Sport Newcastle Tokyo & Beyond appeal, our region has a proud sporting heritage and the Curtis Gabriel Team are excited to be supporting their fundraising efforts during 2020.”
The Tokyo & Beyond launch event was attended by two of the region’s top young sport stars Swimmer Emily Large, World Junior 200m butterfly champion and European junior double champion and Archer Alex Wise, double European junior gold medallist and member of the G.B. team who have secured an Olympic quota spot for Tokyo in the Netherlands last year.

Our Tokyo & Beyond appeal aims to raise £20,000 in the next 12 months to support prospective Olympians and Paralympians in their dreams of reaching the Olympics in Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 or even Los Angeles in 2028. To achieve this, we need the support of North East businesses like our partners Curtis Gabriel, Tier One Capital, The High Street Group, SOS Group Ltd and the region as a whole.”
