One of the most iconic North East events is set to return from 16 June, with new attractions and the opportunity for businesses to get on board.
It’s a tradition that stretches back more than 140 years, the annual visit each June of Europe’s biggest travelling fair – The Hoppings.
Millions of people have visited over the years, an annual pilgrimage where they can enjoy thrills and spills while tucking into fairground staples such as hot dogs and candy floss.
While the spirit of the event and many aspects of it remain unchanged – there are a number of exciting fresh elements being introduced.
Last year The Hoppings was taken over by an experienced events management company, Crow Events, who kept all of the factors that makes the event so popular but added a few new twists.
That included the creation of Feast Street, an area offering a range of street food stalls with a licensed bar and live music for those who were eating.
The success of that venture has given organiser Ryan Crow the confidence to extend Feast Street for this year’s event with a large number of artisan food operators taking part.
They include Big Fat Indian Kitchen, Acropolis Greek food, Zenobia Arabian cuisine, Redheads Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Twisted Chick to name but a few.
Feast Street will also feature nightly entertainment from a range of North East favourite artists, with weekend activities for youngsters including discos and party games.
Last year The Hoppings welcomed a record breaking 500,000 visitors to enjoy its 400 plus attractions – a huge audience by anyone’s standards.
And that’s why this time round – and for the first time ever- there’s the opportunity for businesses to get involved and take advantage of a range of sponsorship packages and a year-round digital marketing campaign, from a starting price of £5k. These include the Standard package which offers the sponsor a wide range of print, digital and social media marketing opportunities along with 10 VIP passes redeemable during the duration of the Hoppings and invitations to the launch event.
There’s an option for tapping into the large number of people who park at the site with branded signage available as well as sponsorship opportunities at Feast Street.
“We are constantly looking at new ways to grow the event year on year and we aim to evolve it to rival the likes of Winter Wonderland at London’s Hyde Park.
“We want to embrace and maintain the DNA of the event, while evolving it to appeal to a modern digitally focused audience – and we invite anyone who shares this dream and who wants to join our sponsorship programme to get in touch.”
