Issue 127

The 16-metre catamaran is giving locals and visitors the chance to see Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider Tyne from a completely different perspective, taking in iconic bridges, historic landmarks, riverside communities and the region’s rich maritime heritage. With panoramic windows, outdoor viewing areas and a licensed café and bar, Canny Lass can carry up to 98 passengers in comfort. Cruises include a one-hour City Cruise, a two-hour Country Cruise heading west and a three-hour Sea Cruise travelling towards the North Sea. Specialist sailings and private hire are also available throughout the year. The launch was marked by a special ceremony, with public cruises now underway and offering a fresh way to experience one of the North East’s most iconic waterways.
