Newcastle High School for Girls (NHSG) is set to host an extraordinary one-night-only dining experience in collaboration with the renowned Michelin-starred restaurant Hjem.
This unique event will bring Hjem’s signature blend of fresh local produce and Scandinavian culinary techniques to the heart of Newcastle, offering an exclusive opportunity for guests to experience its world-class fine dining in the city.
For a first time evening event, Hjem, which is typically nestled in the picturesque village of Wall, Northumberland, will be bringing its award-winning cuisine to Jesmond, Newcastle on Tuesday 18th March. The evening will be curated by NHSG alumna and Hjem co-owner Ally Thompson-Nietosvuori alongside her husband and head chef Alex Nietosvuori, who have together earned the restaurant its well-deserved Michelin star.
Guests will indulge in a meticulously crafted four course tasting menu showcasing the best of Northumbrian ingredients, thoughtfully prepared using Scandinavian culinary techniques that have placed Hjem at the forefront of the UK’s fine dining scene. Given Hjem’s exclusive nature and highly sought-after reservations, this event presents a rare and unmissable opportunity to experience their exceptional cuisine outside of its usual setting.
Speaking about the event, Ally Thompson-Nietosvuori said:
“It is an absolute privilege to bring Hjem to NHSG for this special evening. The school played such an important role in my journey, and to return in this way is truly special. We are so excited to share what we do with guests in Newcastle.”
Limited tickets will be available for this exclusive event, and demand is expected to be high. Guests are encouraged to secure their places early to avoid disappointment.
While the focus of the evening is on the unique dining experience, all proceeds from the event will support NHSG’s 150th Anniversary Bursary Appeal, providing outstanding educational opportunities for girls, regardless of financial circumstances, and delivering on the School’s aim to reach as many girls as possible.
The special menu devised for the evening costs £120 per person and includes canapes, four courses and wine. To see the menu and book tickets for the event, please click here.
