Firmly established as the leading girls’ school in the North East, NHSG is on a mission to champion an all-girl education in the 21st century. NHSG has, during these difficult times, been prepared for every eventuality moving to live remote teaching through its excellent Guided Home Learning programme during both lockdowns, and continuing to deliver an exciting education now that the pupils have returned to school. This has meant that all girls at NHSG have continued to learn and progress. Hopeful that restrictions will continue to ease, we highlight just some of what NHSG offers its pupils. Early Years and Junior School Girls are able to join the NHSG Nursery from just three years of age and the Junior School provides a curriculum delivered within outstanding facilities making indoor and outdoor learning incredibly exciting. Outdoors, NHSG Junior School pupils have access to five acres of grounds with outdoor learning areas, sports facilities, a forest school, nature and wildlife areas and a mud kitchen among other features. Indoors there are large technology enabled classrooms alongside specialist facilities for Art, Science, Music, IT and Dance. Being encouraged to see the possibilities the wider world can offer, the broad curriculum sees girls, for example, given the opportunity to learn a language from day one – with specialist teachers providing Spanish and Mandarin classes from nursery onwards. Senior School and Sixth Form The NHSG Senior School boasts state-of-theart facilities thanks to a multi-million pound redevelopment in 2016. These include impressive Sports, Science and Performing Arts facilities and like the Junior School, technology enabled classrooms. Indeed the use of technology in teaching and learning has set the school apart as it delivered live online lessons right from the first lockdown in March 2020, as well as opening up a wealth of new opportunities within the curriculum.
