Commerce House, the luxury Grade II listed building which has underwent a £1.2m renovation, has been applauded by the new Mayor of Middlesbrough, Andy Preston.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Preston tweeted on @Tees_Issues to commend the Commerce House team for “shining a light on the majesty of this bank-cum-office” development. He went on to say he’d like to see many more buildings in the area “receive the same treatment”.
The renovation of Commerce House was started two years ago by owners, Commerce Chambers, and since its completion at the back end of last summer, has gone onto to establish itself in an incredible way.
As well as filling 95% of the office, with high interest in the remaining space, the organisation has attracted many hot-deskers, coworkers and virtual tenants.
It has also become the go to meeting space for those in Middlesbrough wanting to meet in upmarket surroundings, boosting their image with clients and making official business more pleasurable. Full catering is offered or just refreshments. Facilities manager at Commerce House said: “A prime example of people who regularly meet here is Middlesbrough City Council – they use The Chairman’s Room when meetings require their full attention, so they are not disturbed by day to day council activity.
“We also have the business lounge and an events room, both of which are booked out regularly by both tenants and external customers.”
Both the North East England Chamber of Commerce and Forward Ladies hold their regular monthly networking events at Commerce House.
Christine concluded: “Our virtual tenancy is going incredibly well. The businesses that employ our services include start ups, people who travel with business a lot and need post storing and calls taking; and business expanding into Middlesbrough without a full time presence here yet.
“As a virtual tenant you get to advertise our TS1 postcode, which has boosted business for many of our customers. It is very popular and with prices starting from £35 per month, its not really surprising.
