A leading North East law firm has announced the creation of a senior management position to facilitate its ambitious plans for growth and innovation.
Newcastle-based Mincoffs Solicitors has appointed Aoife Owens as its head of culture and people – a new role at the firm which will sit within the wider practice management team.
Aoife, whose appointment also expands the existing HR department, will lead on recruitment, people strategy, talent development, and wellbeing and culture in her role.
Prior to joining the firm, Aoife gained a decade of experience in both recruitment and HR, spending eight years at a specialist recruitment agency.
During this time, she played an intrinsic part in building and developing the HR and culture function of the business as it grew from a team of eight to an agency with more than 100 employees.
The move to a law firm provides a fullcircle moment for Aoife who, alongside a level 7 advanced diploma in human resources management from the CIPD, also holds a law degree and completed the LPC during her time at university.
Aoife said: “I’m excited to be joining as head of culture and people in this new role that underlines the firm’s commitment to putting its people first.
“I can’t wait to build on the strong foundations already in place and to help shape a people journey that supports colleagues to feel valued, supported and able to do their best work.
“I’m really looking forward to working alongside such a talented team and contributing to the firm’s future.”
Senior partner Paul Hughes said: “We continue to be committed to investing in our people as the firm expands and we are delighted to be introducing this new role within the practice management team.
“Aoife’s proven experience and passion for people and culture is evident to anyone who meets her, and we look forward to working closely with her as we implement her ideas into the wider strategy.
“With her background in recruitment, HR and law, I have no doubt Aoife will be a great fit at Mincoffs and help us enhance our culture, streamline our recruitment processes and achieve the next stage of our growth trajectory.”
