John N Dunn Group is one of many construction companies committed to supporting the North East branch of the Lighthouse Charity as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.
The Lighthouse Charity provides emotional, physical and financial well-being support, specifically within the construction industry, including on-site talks and roadshows to ensure services are visible and easily accessible to workers. The charity was established in the North East in 1956 by a group of construction professionals at a meeting at Whitley Bay’s St Mary’s Lighthouse. They pledged to create an organisation to provide fellowship and support for the construction industry.
The charity has, to date, visited well over 600 locations across the UK and Ireland, including construction companies, builder’s merchants and hire centres, reaching out to the frontline trades and staff, to inform them of the free crucial support services it can provide.
Sarah Sidey, chair of the Lighthouse Charity in the North East, said: “This is such an important year for the charity. We have several events planned with our aim being to ensure the great work achieved over the decades is fully celebrated, whilst continuing to raise awareness. In 2025 the charity provided over 550 mentoring and counselling sessions, 350 meals and seven trauma response interventions in the North East. Without our regional events and company supporters this wouldn’t be possible. We have always received outstanding support from companies operating within the construction sector, such as John N Dunn Group, and we look forward to welcoming them to our events during the year.”
