Group Finance Manager Appointed As Growth Continues Across All Regions

Issue 114

Liam-Anthony Scott has joined John N Dunn Group as finance manager following a period of strong growth across its operations in Newcastle, Leeds and Edinburgh.

Liam, 28, from Bishop Auckland, joined the business in May. In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and supporting finance director, Ben Willcox, with ad-hoc divisional requirements. He also oversees a core team, including a purchase ledger supervisor, payroll manager, finance assistant and apprentice.

Prior to joining the Group, Liam spent three years as an assistant site controller covering two manufacturing sites for an international chemical manufacturer. While his previous role was more focused on stock management, analysing and reporting financial data, his new position offers a broader overview of financial activity and greater responsibility.

With its headquarters in Newcastle, John N Dunn Group is a leading mechanical and electrical building services contractor working across the commercial, residential and public sectors throughout the UK.

Employing over 300 staff across the Group, it has the scale and capability to deliver everything from large construction projects to responsive maintenance works and has developed long-standing relationships with a wide range of blue-chip clients. These include major housing developers, housing associations and high-profile commercial customers. Thanks to its focus on project management and customer service, the company has successfully delivered more than 7,000 contracts during its long-standing history, which spans over a century.

Liam said: “I’ve really enjoyed jumping into a position with such a broad range of financial elements and more responsibility.

“In my initial conversations with Ben Willcox, the Group’s finance director, opportunities for progression were discussed and encouraged. It’s great to be part of a team that genuinely works so well alongside each other. The culture is exceptional and there’s a constant buzz in the office alongside a flow of chatter among everyone. It’s been rewarding to experience a different working environment and new challenges compared to my previous role, where I gained valuable experience within a smaller team.

“John N Dunn Group is a thriving business with a long history that is looking to the future with laser focus and that makes my role exciting and purposeful.”

Stephen Bilclough, Group chairman, said: “We have a very healthy order book across our regional offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Edinburgh.

“As our projects and pipeline continue to grow, so does the need to strengthen our internal teams. Liam’s appointment is a key part of that growth and we’re pleased to welcome him to the business. Alongside Liam, we have also employed 15 operatives to ensure we meet demand for our services.”
