Global Procurement Group - which comprises leading UK energy consultancy Northern Gas and Power - has again secured its position in the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100, 2021.
The list, which is compiled by the Sunday Times, comprises UK companies with the fastest profit growth. The news follows other recent award successes, including the Sunday Times’ Fast Track 100 and Startups: Best Growing, Larger, or International Business.
Founded by CEO Fokhrul Islam in 2013, in under a decade the group has witnessed sustained growth, with headcount increasing to 40 in 2015, 75 a year later, 140 in 2017 and rising to circa 550 by the end of 2019.
Global headcount today approaches 800 and is set to continue to grow to circa 1,000 by the end of 2021, reflecting the need to support its increasing customer base.
Continued expansion means the business has identified a bigger global HQ premises and in summer 2021 will take 4 floors (30,000 sq. ft.) at its new RIGA HQ, a stunning custom-built Gateshead-waterfront office complex. While in France, further exponential growth means Energies France has identified new premises in Paris, having outgrown its three previous offices in just three years.
Energies France has signed a lease on a new Paris HQ, providing them with 5,400sqm of new space – 4.5 times the size of its former HQ. This move enables them to increase headcount to 500, in line with the business’ future expansion plans.
A spokesperson for Northern Gas and Power said “We’re delighted to feature in the Sunday Times Profit Track again, it’s great recognition of the hard work of all our people.
“Our core area of growth has been in the mid-market space, driven by increasing customer acquisition and growing headcount, to support our new clients. This time last year, Northern Gas and Power was contracting circa 400 new customers per month, whereas this year we’re contracting over 1,000 per month. This increase stems from our ability to offer unrivalled expertise, a value-added service proposition and our unique ClearVUE energy management platform, which helps businesses save money and improve their energy efficiency. These have been the key drivers for the growth we have experienced.
“Another key growth driver has been the success of France where we have seen customer base and head count grow exponentially, based on the same principles of quality of service, expert knowledge and our energy management platform. We are on course to grow numbers globally to 1,000 people throughout 2021 to ensure we continue to provide the very highest levels of service.”
Global Procurement Group has consistently built its customer numbers, based on the principles of the highest levels of customer service, rigorous compliance standards and industry-leading knowledge and expertise. The group’s portfolio of energy assets currently stands at 29TWhs, across 20,000 customers.
