Double Awards Are Announced

Constructing Excellence North East (CENE) is calling for entries for its two annual awards.

Category nominations are now open, with the Constructing Excellence North East Awards and Generation for Change (G4C) Awards taking place in June and April.

Generation for Change is part of Constructing Excellence, supporting young professionals within the industry. The G4C North East Awards, will take place at The Newcastle-Gateshead Hilton Hotel on 26 April.

The Constructing Excellence North East (CENE) Awards, will be held at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park on 14 June, with CDM Recruitment as the headline sponsor.

The deadline for entries is Friday 23 February for G4C and Friday 1 March for CENE.

Winners are selected across various categories, including Innovation, Integration and Collaborative Working and Delivering Value. Regional winners will automatically go on to the national final in Autumn 2024.

At the national finals in November 2023, CENE and G4C North East regional winners 2023, secured a number of awards. They included, Charlotte Robson, project manager at Turner & Townsend, who was highly commended in the G4C Future Leader category.

The Bigg Market won the conservation & regeneration title. The project team included NE1, Historic Property Restoration, MawsonKerr Architects, Southern Green, James Christopher Consulting and Artis Consulting.

A highly commended went to The Day Treatment Centre, Newcastle in the value category. The team included Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, P+HS Architects, Robertson Construction, DPP, CAD21, Gen North and Portland Consulting.

One Strawberry Place led by Ask Real Estate, BAM Construction, Ryder Architecture, AtkinsRealis, BGP Consulting Engineers, Shaw Construction Management and SES Engineering, secured highly commended for Building Project of the Year.

Catriona Lingwood, chief executive of Constructing Excellence North East, said: “We are pleased to start the year with the announcement that our two prestigious award programmes are now open for entries.

“They are key events for the region’s built environment sector and many of our regional winners have gone on to achieve success on the national stage.

“The G4C and CENE Awards are opportunities for companies to highlight successful projects and investment in the training and development of staff.
