Award-winning, Hodgson Sayers, a Stanley-based construction and maintenance contractor, has announced the appointment of two new members to its team as it continues to meet increased volumes of work from existing customers.
Keith Jenkins, 53, from Washington, has been appointed as contracts and project manager, while Mark Wiegmann, 52, from South Shields, has been appointed as quantity surveyor and estimator.
The two appointments come as Hodgson Sayers wins a raft of significant contracts, including Australia Towers, in Sunderland.
The 57ft residential tower block suffered significant storm damage, in 2021, and Keith, with over 20 years of experience in contracts management and project management from working at the Ministry of Defence, the police, NHS hospital trusts and care homes, will be responsible for leading on the project.
Mark, who has previously worked for Northern PowerGrid, will be responsible for surveying and providing estimates for projects undertaken. Already, he is devising plans and provisions on over 20 substations including at prisons and military bases and roofing at Durham University.
Hodgson Sayers is primarily a specialist roofing, building maintenance and security products company, that has a base in Nottingham and operates across the UK from its headquarters in Stanley, County Durham.
Working across sectors including education, healthcare, heritage, housing and utilities, it employs a mix of highly skilled operatives including contracts managers, joiners, roofers and bricklayers, who service the needs of a diverse client base.
Keith, said: “Having started my career in installation, I have built an acute understanding of the industry over time and have a wealth of knowledge to call upon.
“I was attracted to the company because of its reputation for fast-paced and highly efficient operations that deliver upon quality at all times. Having just started, I can already attest to the company’s reputation for being an exemplar employer, one where each member of the team is valued and is not just a number.
“Having received a warm welcome, I look forward to working alongside the team and delivering a best-in-class service for our customers.”
Mark, said: “The type of projects Hodgson Sayers undertakes require strict deadlines. Once the programme of activity begins, it does not stop until completion. Put simply, it is a ticking clock and it is my responsibility to ensure the project is completed on time and to cost. If the customer wants the project to be completed quicker than the proposed date we provide, I will reassess and deliver a new estimate that will require additional man power or longer working hours, sometimes both.”
John Sayers, managing director, Hodgson Sayers, said: “Mark and Keith both bring great experience and knowledge to their respective roles and I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our operations. They are sure to be great assets to the company and will help us to continue to deliver the highest quality projects to our customers.”
