Consultancy Continues Vital Support As Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter Marks 130 Years

Issue 121

As Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter celebrates 130 years of caring for animals across the North East, it benefits from a strong and enduring partnership with Carney Consultancy.

The charity provides care and refuge for animals that are lost, unwanted, neglected, abused or abandoned. It also reunites lost pets with their owners wherever possible and finds loving new homes for those in need. To continue this vital work, it relies on the support of local businesses and partners such as Carney Consultancy.

From providing expert health and safety guidance and staff training to supporting fundraising initiatives and connecting the shelter with other businesses, Carney Consultancy plays a key role in ensuring the charity can operate safely and effectively.

Based in North Tyneside, Carney Consultancy specialises in health and safety consultancy and training for the construction and engineering sectors across the north of England. Acting as the shelter’s health and safety consultants, the team provides ongoing advice and support completely free of charge. This includes reviewing and rewriting risk assessments and COSHH assessments, carrying out health and safety policy reviews, undertaking fire risk assessments of the main site and supporting accident investigations.

The company regularly delivers staff training in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), Fire Marshal training, Safe Working at Height, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness and Risk Assessment.

It also actively supports fundraising initiatives. On June 11th, the company is inviting clients, partners and friends to its annual corporate golf day at Macdonald Linden Hall, all money raised will be donated to the charity.

Companies including Clark Degnan, White Knight Maintenance, Applebridge, Redhead Roofing, Northern Ceilings & Partitions and Interceil have all been introduced to the shelter via Carney Consultancy and have contributed support through maintenance, construction and refurbishment projects that benefit the Shelter and its animals.

Angela Carney, Managing Director at Carney Consultancy, said: “As an animal lover, I personally want to congratulate and thank Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter for 130 years of caring for the region’s animals.
