A Darlington independent financial adviser has been recognised on the national stage after winning a prestigious industry award celebrating outstanding women in financial services.
Christine Tarran, founder and director of Tarran & Co Financial Planning Ltd, was crowned Independent Financial Adviser of the Year at the Women’s Recognition Awards 2026, held in London.
The awards celebrate the achievements of women across the UK mortgage and financial services sectors and recognise those who are driving positive change within the profession.
For Christine, the accolade marks another milestone in a career spanning 28 years, during which she has built a reputation for putting people at the heart of financial planning.
Founded on a mission to help individuals, families and businesses feel more confident about their financial future, Tarran & Co has grown into a trusted and respected firm known for its personal approach, expert advice and commitment to doing the right thing for clients. Its services include Personal and Family Protection, Savings and Investments, Retirement Planning, Inheritance and Estate Planning, and Her Invest which supports women at every age and stage to live financially independent lives.
Christine said: “Winning this award is a real honour and one that means so much to me personally.
“I’ve spent my career helping people navigate important financial decisions, and supporting clients through every stage of life is what drives me every day. To be recognised by my peers and the judges at the Women’s Recognition Awards is incredibly humbling.
“This award is also a reflection of the fantastic team around me and the wonderful clients who place their trust in us. I’m truly grateful for their support.”
The Women’s Recognition Awards 2026 adopted the theme “50 Years Forward”, reflecting on the progress made since the introduction of the Sex Discrimination Act in 1975 while looking ahead to the future of the financial services industry.
Christine described the awards as an important platform for recognising women who are making a difference across the profession.
Following her win, the team at Tarran & Co said they were delighted to see Christine’s dedication, passion and leadership recognised at a national level.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We couldn’t be happier or prouder to see Christine receive this award. Anyone who knows her will understand how much care, commitment and energy she brings to supporting clients and helping them achieve their goals.
“Her passion for improving people’s lives through financial planning is at the heart of everything we do at Tarran & Co, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.”
The award caps off a successful year for the independent financial planning firm and further strengthens its reputation as one of the North East’s leading providers of personalised financial advice.
Christine has also been nominated four years in a row for Financial Adviser of the Year – North East, and is a finalist again this year at the Professional Adviser, Women in Financial Advice Awards which will be held on 4th November.
The company is currently recruiting for three roles to expand the team: a financial adviser, paraplanner and a marketing executive.
