All Aboard The Canny Lass As Tyne Cruises Returns To The River

Issue 127

The River Tyne has welcomed back sightseeing cruises with the launch of Tyne Cruises and its newly refurbished passenger vessel, Canny Lass.

The 16-metre catamaran is giving locals and visitors the chance to see Newcastle, Gateshead and the wider Tyne from a completely different perspective, taking in iconic bridges, historic landmarks, riverside communities and the region’s rich maritime heritage.

With panoramic windows, outdoor viewing areas and a licensed café and bar, Canny Lass can carry up to 98 passengers in comfort.

Cruises include a one-hour City Cruise, a two-hour Country Cruise heading west and a three-hour Sea Cruise travelling towards the North Sea.

Specialist sailings and private hire are also available throughout the year.

The launch was marked by a special ceremony, with public cruises now underway and offering a fresh way to experience one of the North East’s most iconic waterways.
