Bernard Interiors launches Zest Living to bring specialist later-living design expertise to a wider market.
Bernard Interiors, the award-winning design group behind many of the UK’s leading care home and retirement living developments, has launched Zest Living, a specialist interior architectural design business created to extend the Group’s expertise across the wider care home and healthcare market.
Known for delivering exceptional environments across the prime residential, hospitality, retirement living, care home and healthcare sectors, Bernard Interiors has built a reputation for combining creative design with commercial insight. With projects spanning the UK and Spain, the Group has become a recognised leader in the longevity sector.
The launch of Zest Living marks the next stage in the Group’s evolution. Bernard Interiors now operates through three specialist brands: Jen Bernard Interiors (JBI), Bernard London (prime residential) and Zest Living, enabling the business to offer tailored design solutions while maintaining a shared focus on design excellence, operational performance and long-term value.
JBI has delivered many flagship care home and integrated retirement community (IRC) developments, helping to set new standards for resident experience and innovation. As JBI increasingly focuses on flagship commercial projects and luxury residential estates globally, Zest Living has been created to serve the wider care home and healthcare market with a creative, scalable and performance-driven design offer.
The new business is supported by Director of Strategic Growth, Rachael Sellers, and strengthened by the appointment of Karen Nairstone as Head of Partnerships. With more than 20 years’ experience in person-centred design, Karen will help expand Zest Living’s reach across the sector.
“Zest Living is about making specialist laterliving design expertise accessible to more developers and operators,” says Founder Jen Bernard. “Great design isn’t about following trends, it’s about understanding how people live, work and receive care. When environments are thoughtfully created around those needs, they enhance wellbeing, improve operational performance and create lasting value for residents, operators and investors alike.”
Group Operations Director Oliver Holmes says the new business addresses a growing need within the sector.
“The impact of great design on resident experience, occupancy, staff retention and asset performance is increasingly recognised, yet many operators have lacked access to the specialist expertise available on flagship developments. Through Zest Living, we’re bringing established sector knowledge and design rigour to a wider market. Successful care home and healthcare environments require far more than selecting finishes and furnishings, they demand a deep understanding of how people live, work and receive care.”
