Memorabilia Museum And Gc Competitions - Where Sporting History Helps Make A Genuine Difference

Issue 122

Danny Mitchell - turning sporting history into unforgettable experiences.

Danny Mitchell has two passions in life… making a genuine difference and sourcing iconic memorabilia.

At first glance, memorabilia is an unlikely way to support good causes, but Danny Mitchell knows more than most when it comes to helping charities and community organisations.

He’s spent more than twenty years working in the charity sector and fundraising for numerous organisations, hosting black tie dinners, sporting events, guest speaker evenings, auctions and corporate hospitality experiences which have helped raise significant funds while showcasing unique memorabilia.

But it also means he has developed another way for charities to generate support.

“There’s something about signed and authenticated items that attracts interest and encourages people to want to own them,” says Danny. “Football shirts, photographs, a pair of boots, a ball, a racing helmet, an LP, an article of clothing, a certificate…the list is endless.

“My main business is sourcing all these things and then selling them via the Memorabilia Museum website www.memorabiliamuseum. co.uk which showcases authenticated collectibles from the worlds of sport, film, television and music. The museum’s collection includes rare, signed items and framed memorabilia from well-known figures. Sometimes I work privately when a client wants a specific item and I use my contacts and expertise to find it.

“I also offer items via GC Competitions whereby people enter prize draws for signed memorabilia. Most tickets are only £1.99 and then, after a few weeks, the draw is made and the lucky winner receives their piece of memorabilia. It can be worth hundreds of pounds, but they get it for £1.99.

“I’ve also combined my love of memorabilia with my commitment to making a genuine difference. I do this by giving a particular charity one of my pieces of memorabilia. The charity and I then promote the draw and, at the end of the competition, 100 per cent of the money raised from ticket sales goes directly to the charity.

“In other words, I’ve created opportunities for fans to own unique collectibles while also supporting fundraising efforts for communities and charities.”

If you go onto the GC Competitions website www.gccompetitions.co.uk you’ll see a wide range of items which will be part of current and future draws. Tickets for all of them cost £1.99 each and there is one – a signed and framed print featuring Paul Gascoigne at Italia ’90 – which will raise funds for a disability organisation.

Danny also hosts special sporting dinners featuring legendary guests, where memorabilia plays a central role in the fundraising experience. Most recently he hosted a special event celebrating the 60th anniversary of England’s 1966 World Cup victory with Geoff Hurst as guest of honour – an evening combining sporting history, memorabilia and fundraising.

Danny regularly works with businesses, charities and event organisers across the region to create unique experiences that bring people together while raising funds for good causes.

It’s worth following Danny Mitchell, the Memorabilia Museum and GC Competitions to keep up to date with everything he’s got going on.
