The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) North East will host its annual dinner and awards on Friday, 14 November 2025, at the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle.
A highlight of the North East construction calendar, the event has eleven awards categories, recognising excellence across the sector and offering a valuable opportunity for networking among contractors, clients and industry professionals.
The evening’s headline sponsor is TWO PLUS TWO, a UK-wide consultancy specialising in quantity surveying, construction planning, and dispute resolution. A limited number of additional sponsorship opportunities remain available, offering organisations a platform to showcase their brand and align with the continued success of the region’s civil engineering sector.
Award categories for 2025 include:

· Trainee Apprentice of the Year
The evening will include a formal dinner and the presentation of awards, recognising both individual and organisational excellence within the industry.

The quality of submissions continues to be exceptionally high and we look forward to recognising those who have delivered real value through their work over the past year.”
CECA North East is one of eight regional branches of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), representing around 80% of civil engineering activity across the region. Its members range from small and medium-sized businesses to some of the largest UK and international firms, all playing a vital role in delivering, maintaining and upgrading the nation’s infrastructure. CECA North East supports its members through advocacy, skills development, health and safety initiatives and fostering collaboration within the industry.

In 2024, winners included Balfour Beatty, which took home Project of the Year (over £5m) for the A66 Elton Interchange Project, and BAM Nuttall, which was recognised in two categories for its work on the Hexham Flood Alleviation Scheme and the Ormesby Beck Restoration Project. Other winners included Esh Construction (Environmental Company of the Year), Hewitson Limited (Health and Safety Company of the Year) and Applebridge (Training Company of the Year). Individual accolades went to Zara Hussain of Applebridge (Trainee Civil Engineer of the Year), Megan Waring of Applebridge (Trainee Quantity Surveyor of the Year) and Richard Stelling of Sir Robert McAlpine (Trainee Apprentice of the Year). The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Stephen Marshall.
