Newcastle Castle - 12th-Century venue creating 21st-Century memories
As impact goes, you really can’t beat Newcastle Castle. Imagine hosting your wedding in the 43ft-high Great Hall or impressing your clients by sending them to jail
that’s the Newcastle Castle Gaol. It’s up to you whether you use the stocks!
“2024 is promising to be a really exciting year for us here at Newcastle Castle because we’re launching new wedding and corporate packages and ensuring that the impact of hosting any event
small or large
will create unique and lasting memories,” said Ben Smith, the Chief Executive of Newcastle Castle. “We’re fully licensed for weddings and functions. Photographs of the bride and groom or corporate clients taken from the castle ramparts with an iconic backdrop of the River Tyne and the bridges will provide something that nobody will ever forget.
We’re also ideally situated because wedding and corporate guests can stay in the hotels which are close by, and of course we have terrific rail and air links to the city.
Clients can hire the entire castle for their corporate and wedding events and we can accommodate a whole range of requests ranging from providing a full catering service, live music and even a medieval theme in terms of food and drink. We can provide a couple of knights in shining armour which, let’s face it, isn’t something you see at more typical corporate or wedding events. If you’d like some surly guards to greet your wedding guests…no problem. What about a daring sword fighting display to thrill your delegates? As we’ve often seen, particularly with corporate clients, you can let their imagination run wild.”
Of course, you don’t need to take the entire castle. There are several smaller rooms within Newcastle Castle…the Chapel, with its vaulted ceiling, is small and intimate and can cater for up to 30 guests. The Harbottle Suite can seat up to 50 guests, while if you need a much larger space, the Great Hall can hold up to 80 guests for something like an evening reception.
