New Appointment Adds Value To Ambitious Team

Issue 51

Redcar-based, Lynas Engineers, continues to strengthen its presence in the North East with the appointment of senior engineer, Helen Langton.

Helen joins from Darlington Borough Council, where she was a highways engineer.

Helen’s arrival follows that of operations manager, Lee Smith, earlier this summer, as managing director, Rob Lynas continues to build the team, which currently stands at 10 staff.

Established in 2016, Lynas Engineers specialises in civil engineering design, infrastructure design, highways engineering, structural engineering, drainage design, 3d design and building information modelling (BIM).

In 2018 the company’s forward-thinking approach to project delivery saw it win the Teesside regional heat for Best use of Digital Technology in the North East Business Awards, where it was also a finalist in the Newcomer of the Year category.

2019 has seen a real focus on developing a team structure that positions the company for further growth in the Tees Valley, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Durham.

Helen said: “I have extensive civil engineering experience across the private and public sectors having worked at Darlington Borough Council for four years.

“My expertise is in drainage and I will be working closely with director and principal engineer, Wayne Farrell, to undertake flood risk assessments and to implement drainage designs and drainage strategies as we look to undertake new projects with industrial and commercial clients as well as delivering to local authorities and the wider public sector.

“My aim going forward is to build a drainage division and develop and nurture the team that we bring together.”

Rob Lynas, managing director, Lynas Engineers said: “Helen brings in-depth industry knowledge and the fact that she has experience of working client-side with a local authority means she will have little difficulty adapting to her new working environment.

“We have grown significantly in the last 12 months, investing in new technology and larger office space and this has coincided with our winning a series of contracts. As we move forward, it is crucial we invest in high quality, experienced people who offer a fresh approach and who can deliver against our strategic objectives.

“Helen’s expertise in drainage is very hard to match and her established links within the public sector positions us well for future growth.

“Working alongside Wayne, Helen will help manage and develop a talented team of young people, such as apprentice, Tom Hustwitt, who is studying a BTEC and NVQ in civil engineering and senior technicians, Ben McGregor and Stephen Drinkwater who are studying for a degree at Teesside University.

“The additional support that Helen provides for Wayne will enable him to focus more on developing the business as we continue to build our presence not just in Tees Valley but the wider region.”
