Everyone's A Celebrity At Harbour View

Issue 48

Waseem Mir, manager of the award-winning Harbour View Restaurant in Seaton Sluice tells us why his fish and chips bring in the celebrities and how every customer, famous or not is given the very best in customer service.

“It’s not unusual to see huge queues of customers lining up for their takeaway meal or having to wait for a table in our restaurant and myself and my team really appreciate that.

“Customer service is so important to us as we want to give the very best dining experience as well as the finest quality food every time a customer visits us. That is why we treat everyone like a celebrity. Everyone is important to us and we enjoy seeing familiar faces coming back week after week. Sometimes, we do get celebrities in and although we never make a fuss of them as we believe everyone should be allowed their privacy, it is great for our staff and customers to see them.

“Recently, we’ve hosted a visit from Ant Mcpartlin and his family for their Saturday night takeaway. He was lovely and took the time to chat to our customers while he was waiting for his cod and chips. We’re delighted that he decided to visit us with his family. He even posed for a selfie with our staff member Sharon.

“Si King, one of the famous TV chefs from the Hairy Bikers dropped in for a takeaway too and when he saw that we were hosting a charity event for The Maritime Volunteer Service, he kindly took the time to say hello. Other regulars include Newcastle United legend Malcolm McDonald, ex Lindisfarne drummer Ray Laidlaw and actress and presenter Kim Tserkezie who now runs her own TV production company called Scattered Pictures. We’ve even recently had an Australian TV crew from National Geographic make a short documentary about us.

“We are very honoured that stars such as these pop in for their food but our real stars are the general public some of whom travel many miles for their award-winning fish and chips.

“We look forward to seeing you soon at The Harbour View. You never know who you might see there!”
